This post describes a police complaint (Aduan Masyarakat) I prepared, dated 8 May 2026, naming the operators of the Instagram account "Ecommurz" (@ecommurz) and its content writer "@diluc_murz," and separately the operator of the X/Twitter account "HRD Bacot" (@hrdbacot), as terlapor (reported parties). My complaint documents do not show an assigned police report number, so I'm describing this as a complaint I prepared and moved to file, not confirming a specific report number or investigation status here. Under Indonesian criminal procedure, a terlapor is not a tersangka (suspect) or a convicted defendant — a complaint is not a finding of guilt. Everything below is my account of what happened and what I asked police to look into. The account operators named have not had a chance to respond in this post, and I am not asserting anyone's guilt. I don't independently know the real identities behind either account; that is itself one of the things I asked police to investigate. Where I did not witness something directly, I've said so.

Background: losing my job at AWS and going viral

In September 2023, I was an Associate Solutions Architect at AWS Indonesia, about 1.5 months into a probation period, when I was terminated. The stated reason involved a Medium article I had written that referenced my role at AWS — something I considered a minor, easily-corrected issue. Not long after, the situation became a subject of public discussion on Twitter/X, and I was the target of significant online criticism. I've written before about the mental-health toll of that period, including a diagnosis of bipolar disorder that came later. I'm including this background because both accounts I discuss below published content directly about this same incident.

What Ecommurz published

According to screenshots I've kept, the Instagram account @ecommurz, through a content writer identified as @diluc_murz, published a multi-slide "MurzOpinion" editorial series in September 2023 about my termination. The slides:

  • Referred to the situation as "the scandal" and "the incident."
  • Stated that, "reportedly, some multinational firms are reconsidering their early career hiring strategy amidst the scandal, according to sources familiar with the matter."
  • Stated that "the issue might've jeopardized the future of thousands of interns and early career jobseekers, especially during freshgrad season."

I don't have any documentation from a named multinational company confirming a change in hiring strategy, and the slides themselves don't identify the "sources familiar with the matter." I asked police to look into whether publishing these claims, framed as reported fact rather than clearly labeled opinion, and without any means for me to verify or challenge the underlying sourcing, meets the threshold for online defamation or unverified-claim offenses under Indonesia's ITE Law (UU ITE) and the new Criminal Code's defamation provisions (Pasal 433 jo. Pasal 436 KUHP Baru).

What HRD Bacot published

According to a separate set of screenshots, the X/Twitter account @hrdbacot — which I understand had somewhere over 900,000 followers at the time — was involved in two things:

First, on or around 28 September 2023, @hrdbacot quote-tweeted the Ecommurz content, captioned roughly "waduh adik-adik yang pengen intern ke top tech company kedepannya :( source @ecommurz" ("uh-oh, for those of you who want to intern at a top tech company in the future"), citing Ecommurz as the source. I was told this tweet reached around 163,400 impressions.

Second, on 23 October 2023, @hrdbacot posted a tweet quoting a historical post about Semaun, an early 20th-century figure and founding chairman of the since-banned Indonesian Communist Party (PKI), captioned "Lihat tuh si Semaun, umur 20 tahun sudah menjadi Ketua Umum PKI!!" HRD Bacot added its own text above that quote: "liat tuh si amat, umur 21 tahun dipecat dari AWS" ("look at that guy Amat, 21 years old and fired from AWS") — "Amat" being a common short form of "Rahmat." Based on the screenshots I have, this tweet reached roughly 766,300 impressions, with several hundred retweets and quote tweets. Less than three hours later, in the same thread, the account added "lucu banget, cocok jadi standup comedy nih" ("really funny, this should be stand-up comedy") and, replying to another user, "Malah Bangga Dong" ("You should be proud, actually"). I understand that second tweet reached roughly 518,600 impressions.

I'm quoting these directly because they are the specific statements at issue, not to relitigate them here. In my complaint, I asked police to evaluate whether drawing a comparison between me and the founder of a banned political organization — in a country where that association carries serious social and historical weight — combined with the impressions numbers involved and the professional (HR/recruiting) audience following that account, meets the threshold for criminal defamation or insult under the ITE Law and the new Criminal Code (Pasal 433 jo. Pasal 436 KUHP Baru).

The somasi and the complaint I prepared

Before going to police, I sent a combined cease-and-desist letter (Somasi No. 023+027/SOMASI/RW/IV-V/2026) dated 4 May 2026 to both the Ecommurz account operators and the HRD Bacot account operator. It asked for removal of the content described above, a public apology on the same platforms, and compensation, with a seven-day deadline (11 May 2026 in the letter's own terms, though my accompanying notes reference a 5 May 2026 deadline in places — I'm flagging that inconsistency rather than picking one). I did not receive what I considered an adequate response within that window.

I subsequently prepared an Aduan Masyarakat (public complaint) dated 8 May 2026, addressed to either the Cyber Crime Directorate at Bareskrim Polri or my local police precinct, naming the Ecommurz account operators/@diluc_murz and the @hrdbacot account operator as terlapor. My complaint materials list no confirmed police report number, so I want to be precise: I'm describing a complaint I prepared and intended to submit, not confirming that an investigation is underway or at what stage it currently stands.

What I asked for

In the complaint, I asked police to:

  • Verify the real identities behind the @ecommurz, @diluc_murz, and @hrdbacot accounts, since none of these are identities I can independently confirm.
  • Collect the underlying digital evidence (original posts, engagement data, metadata) from Instagram and X/Twitter.
  • Question the account operators about their basis for the claims in the Ecommurz slides, and about the intent behind the HRD Bacot posts.
  • Evaluate whether the conduct described above meets the elements of digital defamation or unverified-claim offenses under the ITE Law (UU No. 1/2024, Pasal 27A jo. Pasal 45(4) and (6)) and the new Criminal Code (Pasal 433 jo. Pasal 436 KUHP Baru).

I'm not a lawyer. Preparing or filing a complaint isn't a finding, and everyone named in it remains a terlapor unless and until an investigation concludes otherwise. I'm documenting this because it's a factual account of a dispute connected to a period of my life that became unexpectedly public, and because I believe the sequence of events is relevant to anyone evaluating it.
